Arsenal pushing to sign 23yo Ecuadorian star, Berta open to another signing
Arsenal have had a productive summer transfer window with seven signings.
The Gunners are not done yet in the transfer market and are looking into a deal for a centre-back.
Talks are underway with Bayer Leverkusen for Piero Hincapie, who has already agreed on personal terms.
If Arsenal were to sign Hincapie, Jakub Kiwior would be permitted to join Porto on loan with a mandatory buy clause.
HandofArsenal, who exclusively broke the Cristhian Mosquera story, has now revealed that Friday could be a significant day for sporting director Andrea Berta to secure clarity in the pursuit of Hincapie.
The Gunners have already made ‘serious advancements’ for the signing of the Ecuadorian.
Meanwhile, Berta is still assessing the market in the final days of the transfer window, should an opportunity present itself.
Arsenal set for exciting end to transfer window
Porto have agreed to sign Kiwior on a loan deal with an obligation to buy for £22.5 million.
However, the move won’t materialise until the Gunners secure the signature of Hincapie.
The 23-year-old has a release clause worth £52m in his contract, but Arsenal are looking to sign him for less. The centre-back has asked Leverkusen to accept around £39m.
Arsenal are still negotiating with the former German champions. They appear to be optimistic over a deal which would likely be an initial loan with a mandatory buy clause.
Berta is open to pursuing another signing before the transfer deadline, and we won’t be surprised if Arsenal seek to bring in a specialist left winger on loan with a buy obligation.
A move for Rodrygo seems unlikely as Real Madrid could demand close to £78m, and may not be open to a loan-to-buy agreement. Arsenal may explore a younger alternative.
Lyon’s Malick Fofana could emerge as a genuine option. The Belgian can leave for around £34m with Les Gones needing more funds to balance their financial books this summer.
Arsenal could face competition from Bayern for the 20-year-old, who has snubbed Everton. He has his sights on joining a Champions League outfit before the window closes.
