What the weather will be like in Kazakhstan on Monday, 9 February: storm warnings

Tengrinews.kz – On Monday, 9 February, the weather will deteriorate in Astana, Almaty and Shymkent, as well as in most regions. In this regard, Kazhydromet has issued storm warnings.

In Abay region, a south-easterly wind is expected. At night in the north, south and centre of the region it will reach 15–20 metres per second, with gusts up to 23–28 metres per second. During the day, wind speeds will be 15–20 metres per second, with gusts of 23–28 metres per second in the south and centre, at times 30 metres per second or more. Strong winds are also forecast in the region on 10–11 February. In addition, on 9 February during the day, rain mixed with snow and ice is possible in the west and north-west of the region, and ground blizzard is expected in the north, south and centre. Fog is forecast at night and in the morning in the east of the region. In Semey, forecasters expect a south-easterly wind with gusts of 15–20 metres per second.

At night in the west and south of Akmola region, snow and blowing snow are expected; during the day there will be rain mixed with snow, blowing snow and ice. Fog is possible in the west, north and east of the region. The wind will be south-easterly and southerly; in the west, south and east gusts will reach 15–20 metres per second. In Kokshetau, precipitation is expected during the day, mainly snow, with ice on roads.

In Almaty region, forecasters predict a south-easterly wind. Gusts of 17–22 metres per second are expected in the west, south, mountainous areas of the region and in Konaev, at times up to 30 metres per second. Fog is possible in the north, south and mountainous areas of the region, and during the day ice is expected in the west, south and mountainous areas.

In the west, north and centre of Aktobe region, rain mixed with snow, ice and fog are expected. At night, a ground blizzard is forecast in the centre of the region. The wind will be south-easterly, shifting to south-westerly; at night in the centre gusts will reach 15 metres per second. In Aktobe, ice is expected, with fog possible at night and in the morning.

In the west, north and east of Atyrau region, forecasters predict rain mixed with snow; in the south of the region precipitation, fog and ice are also possible. During the day in the north and east, a ground blizzard is expected. The wind will be north-westerly, shifting to south-westerly; during the day in the north and east gusts will reach 15–20 metres per second. In Atyrau, fog and ice are expected.

In East Kazakhstan region, a south-easterly wind is expected at night. In the north, east and centre of the region, wind speeds will reach 15–20 metres per second, with gusts of 23–28 metres per second, at times 30 metres per second or more. Strong winds are also forecast in the region on 10–11 February. On 9 February, a ground blizzard is expected in the north, east and centre of the region, with fog at night and in the morning in the north and south. In Ust-Kamenogorsk, forecasters predict a south-easterly wind with gusts of 15–20 metres per second.

In Zhambyl region, fog is possible. The wind will be north-easterly, shifting to south-westerly; in the south-west, north-east and mountainous areas it will reach 15–20 metres per second, with gusts of 23–28 metres per second, and at times 30 metres per second or more in the south-west and mountains. In Taraz, fog is expected at times. The wind will be north-easterly, shifting to south-westerly; in the morning and during the day gusts will be 15–20 metres per second, at times up to 23 metres per second.

In the north and mountainous areas of Zhetysu region, fog is expected at times. From 9 to 11 February, a north-easterly wind will prevail in the region; in the north, east and mountainous areas it will reach 15–20 metres per second with gusts of 23–28 metres per second.

In West Kazakhstan region, forecasters predict rain mixed with snow. Fog and ice are possible in the west, north and south of the region. During the day, a ground blizzard is expected in the west, north and south. The wind will be south-westerly, shifting to north-westerly; during the day in the west, north and south gusts will reach 15–20 metres per second. In Uralsk, snow, fog and ice are expected, with a ground blizzard during the day.

At night in the west, north and south of Kostanay region, snow and a ground blizzard are possible; during the day, rain mixed with snow, ground blizzard and ice are expected. Fog will be observed in the north, south and east of the region. The wind will be south-easterly, shifting to south-westerly; during the day in the west, north and east it will reach 15–20 metres per second. In Kostanay, ice is expected in the morning and during the day.

In the centre, south and east of Kyzylorda region, ice is expected. Fog will form in the north and centre. The wind will be south-easterly, shifting to south-westerly; at night and in the morning in the north and east it will reach 15–20 metres per second. In Kyzylorda, fog is expected at times.

At night in the west and north of Mangystau region, ice is possible. During the day it will also be slippery in the west, north, centre of the region and in Aktau. Fog is forecast in the south, north and centre of the region.

During the day in the west, south and east of Pavlodar region, snow, ground blizzard and ice are expected. The wind will be southerly; during the day in the south and east gusts will reach 15–20 metres per second.

At night in the west and south of North Kazakhstan region, snow and a ground blizzard are possible; during the day, snow, ground blizzard and ice are expected. Fog is forecast in the south of the region. The wind will be south-westerly and southerly; in the west, east and south gusts will reach 15–20 metres per second. In Petropavlovsk, snow and a ground blizzard are expected during the day.

During the day in the south and mountainous areas of Turkestan region, heavy rain is expected. At night in the mountainous areas, ice will form. Fog is forecast in the west, north and mountains. Forecasters predict a south-easterly wind; in the west, north, south and mountainous areas its speed will be 15–20 metres per second with gusts of 23–28 metres per second, and during the day on mountain passes 30 metres per second or more. Strong winds will persist in the region on 10–11 February as well. In Turkestan, fog is possible at night and in the morning on 9 February. The south-easterly wind will have gusts of 15–20 metres per second.

At night in Ulytau region, rain mixed with snow, blizzard and ice are expected. Similar weather is forecast during the day in the north, east and south of the region. Fog is possible in the north, east and centre. The wind will be south-easterly and southerly; in the north and east it will reach 15–20 metres per second. At night and in the morning, wind speeds will reach 23–28 metres per second. In Zhezkazgan, rain mixed with snow, blizzard and ice are expected at night and in the morning, with fog possible at times.

In Shymkent, fog is expected at night and in the morning. The wind will be south-easterly, with gusts of 15–20 metres per second.

In Almaty, fog is possible at night.

In Astana, forecasters predict rain mixed with snow, ground blizzard and ice during the day.
