It is of utmost importance that the Commission on Elections (Comelec) not only be – but must also appear to be – totally united and working as one as it carries out its duties for the coming presidential election. In recent days, there were reports of bitter wrangling within the ranks of the Comelec. It appears that Commissioner Rowena Guanzon had submitted to the Supreme Court the Comelec’s comment on the Grace Poe camp’s petition to stop her disqualification as a presidential candidate. Chairman Andres Bautista questioned the commissioner’s action and she retorted that the Comelec had not required that all the commissioner sign the comment and a deadline had to be met.
