Precipitation, fog, ice: storm warning issued in 15 regions

Tengrinews.kz – Forecasters have warned residents of several regions about strong winds, precipitation and fog. A storm warning has been issued for 15 regions as well as the cities of Almaty and Shymkent.

Almaty – At times during the day, heavy precipitation is expected (freezing rain, snow). Periods of fog and ice glaze. Westerly wind with gusts at times up to 15 m/s.

Shymkent – Precipitation is expected, at times heavy (mainly rain). Periods of fog. Southwesterly wind, 15–20 m/s in gusts. A sharp drop in daytime air temperature to +7…+9 °C is expected.

Zhetysu Region – During the day in the east, the central and mountainous areas of the region, heavy snow and ice glaze are expected at times. On 26–27 February, fog is expected in the east, the center and mountainous areas of the region. On 26–27 February, northeasterly wind in the north, east and mountainous areas of the region at 15–20 m/s, with gusts 23–28 m/s. In Taldykorgan, fog and ice glaze are expected during the day.

Kyzylorda Region – Precipitation is expected (snow, rain), at night in the central and northern parts of the region heavy precipitation (snow, rain). In the central, northern and southern parts of the region: ice glaze, fog, and blowing snow. Southwesterly wind shifting to northeasterly at night 15–20 m/s, in the central and eastern parts 23–28 m/s, during the day in the central, northern and southern parts 15–20 m/s. In Kyzylorda, precipitation (snow, rain) is expected, with heavy precipitation (snow, rain) at night. Periods of ice glaze and fog, and blowing snow at night. Southwesterly wind at night 15–20 m/s, with gusts up to 23 m/s.

Atyrau Region – Fog is expected at night and in the morning in the western and southern parts of the region.

Abai Region – Fog is expected at night and in the morning in the central part of the region. Northeasterly wind in Ayagoz district 15–20 m/s.

Aktobe Region – At night in the extreme south of the region, snow and blowing snow are expected. Easterly, northeasterly wind in the southern and central parts of the region with gusts 15–18 m/s.

East Kazakhstan Region – Fog is expected at night and in the morning in the northern and southern parts of the region. At night in the northern and eastern parts, severe frost of −40 °C is expected.

Mangystau Region – Ice glaze and fog are expected at night and in the morning in the northeast and central parts of the region.

Karaganda Region – In the south of the region, snow, blowing snow and ice glaze are expected. Fog in the western, northern and southern parts of the region. Northeasterly wind in the western and southern parts with gusts 15–20 m/s, at times 23–28 m/s.

West Kazakhstan Region – Fog is expected in the western and southern parts of the region.

Turkestan Region – Precipitation is expected; in the west, north, south and mountainous areas of the region heavy precipitation (rain, snow) at times. Thunderstorms in the south of the region. Fog in the west, north, south and mountainous areas. In the north and mountainous areas, ice glaze and blowing snow. Southwesterly wind in the west, north, south and mountainous areas 15–20 m/s, with gusts 23–28 m/s. A sharp drop in daytime air temperature to +4…+9 °C is expected, in the north and mountainous areas down to −2 °C. In Turkestan, precipitation is expected, at times heavy (mainly rain). Periods of fog. Southwesterly wind with gusts 15–20 m/s. A sharp drop in daytime air temperature to +5…+7 °C is expected.

Pavlodar Region – Fog is expected in the western, northern and southern parts of the region. Fog is also expected in Pavlodar.

Zhambyl Region – At night in the north and mountainous areas of the region, heavy snow is expected. Blowing snow in mountainous areas. Periods of fog and ice glaze. Northeasterly wind shifting to southwesterly in the southwest, northeast and mountainous areas of the region 15–20 m/s, with gusts 23–28 m/s. In Taraz, periods of fog and ice glaze are expected. Northeasterly wind shifting to southwesterly 15–20 m/s, at times 23–28 m/s.

Akmola Region – In the western and southern parts of the region, easterly wind with gusts 15–18 m/s is expected.

Ulytau Region – At night in the south of the region, snow, blowing snow and ice glaze are expected; during the day in the south, precipitation (rain, snow), blowing snow and ice glaze. Fog in the northern, eastern and southern parts of the region. Northeasterly wind in the north, east and south 15–20 m/s, at times 23–28 m/s. In Zhezkazgan, northeasterly wind with gusts 15–20 m/s is expected.

Almaty Region – At night in the north of the region, heavy snow is expected at times; during the day in the south and in the foothill areas, heavy precipitation at times (freezing rain, snow), and in mountainous areas heavy snow at times. In the north, south, foothill and mountainous areas, periods of fog, ice glaze and blowing snow are expected. Westerly wind in the north, south, foothill and mountainous areas with gusts 15–20 m/s, at times 24–29 m/s. In Konaev, periods of fog and ice glaze are expected. Westerly wind with gusts 15–20 m/s, at times up to 25 m/s.
