Club Bulakeño made a grand statement recently as it saluted its 27th anniversary with the theme “Celebracion con Erte.” The annual fundraiser, held at the Rizal Ballroom of Makati Shangri-La, saw members and guests in Erte-inspired gowns. After its president Jonas Cabochan’s speech, all eyes focused on the beauteous lady president, Shelly Lazaro. Shelly mentioned that Club Bulakeño’s theme took inspiration from the Russian-French artist Romain de Tirtoff, who used the pseudonym Erte, saying, “We are delighted to see all of you enjoying tonight’s high fashion Gatsby décor, costumes, and production number prepared by our esteemed members, officers, and directors with the wonderful help of friends and benefactors.” This was the third time that the club had the conferment of awards on outstanding Bulakeños called “Mga Huwaran ng Bulakan.” The honorees received a trophy symbolic of a torch created by Metrobank Foundation Prize for Achievement in Sculpture awardee Peter de Guzman. The spirit of excellence of past historical leaders such as Marcelo H. Del Pilar paved the way for future outstanding Bulakeño achievers.
