The classmate of President Benigno S. Aquino III in Ateneo De Manila University (ADMU) leads the shortlist of nominees who will replace Supreme Court Associate Justice Martin Villarama, the Judicial and Bar Council announced yesterday. Justice Secretary Alfredo Benjamin Caguioa, Aquino’s classmate in grade school and college, got a unanimous vote from all seven JBC members after the council’s deliberation on Monday. Speaking to reporters, Caguioa said that he wasn’t expecting to be nominated as one of the replacements for Villarama. “Will I feel bad if I didn’t get a nomination? No. Will I feel good that I got the nomination? Well yeah, I guess because people recognize me pero is it the be-all and end-all of my life?
