Almaty residents felt an earthquake

Tengrinews.kz – Residents of Almaty felt an earthquake on the morning of September 28. Users reported this on social media and in WhatsApp chats.
According to city residents, the tremor occurred at around 6:32 a.m. However, official bodies have not yet published any alerts.


A brief report about an earthquake in “eastern Kazakhstan” appeared in the morning on the website of the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC). However, detailed information about the event, including its magnitude and epicenter, has not yet been specified.
Later, Almaty’s Emergency Situations Department reported that on September 28, at 6:32 a.m. Astana time, a “seismic event” was registered in Kazakhstan. It was not felt in the city of Almaty.
No reports of incidents or earthquake-related calls were received by Almaty’s Emergency Situations Department via the 112 and 101 emergency numbers.
