Tokayev concluded his visit to Turkey: key events of the trip

As a reminder, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev arrived in Türkiye on an official visit on October 28 at the invitation of President Erdoğan.
On the same day, the President of Kazakhstan held a brief conversation with his Turkish counterpart in the airport's arrival hall.

Tokayev concludes visit to Türkiye: Key agreements between Astana and Ankara
During the trip, the President of Kazakhstan held talks with Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and participated in the 13th Summit of the Organization of Turkic States. The agenda focused on trade and economic cooperation, investment, transport, energy, and collaboration within the Turkic bloc.
During a restricted-format meeting, Tokayev and Erdoğan noted the steady development of bilateral relations in the spirit of eternal friendship and expanded strategic partnership.
The two leaders discussed further strengthening the expanded strategic partnership. Tokayev identified Türkiye as one of Kazakhstan's top five trading partners and one of its ten largest investors.

Erdoğan, in turn, announced his intention to increase bilateral trade turnover to $15 billion and step up investment cooperation. The parties also discussed cooperation in transport and logistics, energy, artificial intelligence, agriculture, and the defense industry.
Kazakhstan's proposals within the OTS
At the 13th Summit of the Organization of Turkic States, Tokayev designated economic cooperation as a top priority for the association. According to his data, Kazakhstan's trade turnover with OTS member states approached $10 billion this year, a 40 percent increase compared to last year.

The President called for accelerating the adoption of the organization's strategy for 2027–2031, focusing it on specific joint projects. Proposals included making more active use of the Turkic Investment Fund and the Turkic Chamber of Commerce and Industry, as well as hosting a business forum in Kazakhstan in 2027.
Tokayev also focused specifically on the transport sector. He noted the significance of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route, stating that cargo volumes along the Middle Corridor grew by 30 percent over nine months, while transit volumes surged by 90 percent.

Position on the future of the OTS
At the summit, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev also outlined Kazakhstan's position on the further development of the organization. He emphasized that the OTS should not turn into a military alliance. According to him, member countries should focus on strengthening cooperation and developing the association's institutions.
The President pointed out that OTS activities already cover about 60 areas, with some functions being duplicated. He proposed defining core priorities and establishing a Council of Permanent Representatives to the organization.
In his speech, Tokayev also touched upon the situation in the Middle East and urged consideration of its impact on international trade and transport routes. He specifically noted the importance of respecting the sovereignty and national interests of all member states.
The Ankara Declaration was adopted following the summit. The chairmanship of the OTS passed from Azerbaijan to Türkiye.

As part of the visit's program, President Tokayev joined other leaders to inaugurate the Turkic World Alley in Ankara's Beştepe Park.

National pavilions of Türkiye, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, and Turkmenistan were organized at the venue.
The exhibitions reflected the unity and solidarity of the brotherly nations, their diverse cultures, and rich spiritual traditions. In particular, the Kazakh yurt symbolized the spirit of the Great Steppe and the shared historical roots of the Turkic world.
Later, the heads of delegations attended a concert featuring masters of Turkic arts, where Kazakh singer Dimash Kudaibergen performed.
