The Office of Civil Defense (OCD) has made an advance payment of P30 million to the National Food Authority (NFA) for the purchase of rice that will be distributed during future emergency and relief operations. The payment was made on January 20 at the Philippine Sugar Center in Quezon City wherein Augusto C. Iglesia, chief of the OCD Financial Management Division, handed over the P30 million cheque to NFA Administrator Renan Dalisay. The ceremonial turnover was witnessed by key officials of the NFA and officers of OCD Financial Management and Logistics Divisions. Iglesia explained that OCD Asministrator Alexander Pama wanted to make sure that disaster-affected populations will have a steady supply of rice during disaster operations, hence, the advance payment.
