For 116 years now, the Manila Bulletin had been reporting and recalling how Filipinos have endured and prevailed over various natural and man-made challenges – by staying together, helping one another, and making our nation’s well-being every citizen’s paramount duty. This month also being the 30th anniversary of EDSA 1986, I take this opportunity to join the Manila Bulletin in reminding our fellow Filipinos to do their share of civic responsibility. Commemorating EDSA 1986 every year articulates the Filipino people’s continuing challenge to our elected leaders at all levels to PERFORM their duties selflessly, REFORM themselves for the common good, and TRANSFORM our nation into a competitive global player worthy of emulation.
