New MRT-3 from Dalian, China (MB) Metro Rail Transit Line 3 (MRT-3) will have a new set of trains running before April this year. The Bureau of Customs last Friday released two new MRT-3 coaches imported from Dalian, China and the Department of Transportation and Communications (DOTC) assembled them over the weekend. The two new light rail vehicles (LRVs) are part of the 48 new coaches procured under the DOTC-MRT3 capacity expansion project, which will increase the railway’s capacity to over 800,000 daily passengers. They closed one EDSA lane on the innermost southbound side to ensure the safety of motorists as the new LRVs were assembled at Pasay-Taft Station over the weekend. DOTC expects to complete the dynamic testing of the second new LRV , along with the assembly and the static testing of the third and fourth new LRVs by the end of this month.
