Davao City – Many people in the biggest political rally ever in Davao City yesterday broke into tears as the song “Bayan Ko” was sang and candles were lighted by the 50,000 supporters of presidential aspirant Mayor Rodolfo Duterte who attended the rally dubbed “Kahayag sa Pagbag-o” (Light for Change). The crowd had come from Davao City, Duterte’s hometown, and the neighboring provinces. Those who were too far held simultaneous rallies in other major cities, among them Zamboanga and General Santos City, where the people also lighted candles. In Davao City, those who opted to stay home lit candles and opened their windows to their support for the first Mindanaoan – the mayor of their city –running as president of the country.
