Mexican peso recovers a bit after Trump beating
The Mexican peso crawled back on Monday, rising for the first time since plunging to a record low following Donald Trump's victory in the US presidential election last week.
The currency stood at 21.05 pesos per dollar in late trading, up 0.3 percent compared with Friday when it exchanged hands at 21.15, according to private bank Citibanamex.
The peso broke the 20 and 21 peso psychological barriers after Republican tycoon Trump defeated Democratic rival Hillary Clinton in the November 8 election.
Markets are nervous about the effect of Trump's protectionist policies on Mexico, including his vow to renegotiate the North American Free Trade Agreement and make Mexico pay for a huge border wall.
