Austrian Kraft defies favourite for ski jumping world title
Austria's Stefan Kraft won the normal-hill title at the ski jumping world championships at Lahti on Saturday ahead of favourite Andreas Wellinger and another German Markus Eisenbichler.
Kraft triumphed at the prestigious Four Hills in 2015 and also won the world bronze that year while this feat adds to solid form in the 2017 World Cup.
"I feel unbelievable now but I was under such pressure, I never thought I'd beat Andreas Wellinger," Kraft said.
Kraft landed 99.5m and 98m leaps while Wellinger went 96.5 and 100.
World Cup leader Kamil Stoch of Poland could only manage fourth on the day.
