Armenia seeks Russian credit modernize armaments
Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan has announced a plan for requesting a Russian credit to modernize the armament in the country's military arsenal.
In an interview with the Moscow-based TV channel Rossiya 24, the president justified the plan by the need of improving and developing the armed forces.
“The Armed Forces of the Republic of Armenia are materially well-equipped in essence as they possess serious samples of modern armament and have professional officers. But that doesn’t mean our armed forces should not develop [to enhance] the management of troops and to modernize the armament,” he said.
In an earlier interview with RIA Novosti, the president spoke of a recently signed $100 million worth credit agreement intended to supply the country with a new batch of Russian weapons.
