Kurultai elections: Kazakhstanis asked about participation in voting

Tengrinews.kz — The Kazakhstan Institute of Social Development has published results of a survey on public attitudes toward the upcoming Kurultai deputy elections.

According to the study, 70.3 percent of respondents intend to visit polling stations. Meanwhile, 23.3 percent do not plan to vote, and another 6.4 percent remain undecided.

The survey was conducted from July 8 to 20 among 1,200 adult residents across all regions of Kazakhstan, including 17 regions and the cities of Astana, Almaty, and Shymkent. Respondents were reached via mobile and landline phones.

The study's authors note that the sample reflects the structure of the country's adult population by gender, age, type of settlement, and region of residence. The survey was conducted with official notification to the Central Election Commission.

Researchers found no significant difference in voter readiness between urban and rural residents, with the gap amounting to approximately two percentage points.

The highest level of readiness to vote was demonstrated by respondents aged 46 to 60. Their participation rate is approximately 10 percentage points higher than that of youth aged 18 to 28.

Women expressed their intention to vote approximately five percentage points more often than men. Higher electoral activity was also recorded among respondents with higher or incomplete higher education.

The Institute stated that it is publishing these results based on written notification to the CEC No. OSK-11-07/1290 dated July 8, 2026.
