Giants’ Posey leaves home opener after being beaned
Giants’ Posey leaves home opener after being beaned UPDATE, 1:50 p.m. Giants catcher Buster Posey has left the home opener in the first inning after being hit in the helmet by a 94-mph fastball from the Diamondbacks starter Taijuan Walker. Posey was batting with two outs and Denard Span on third base, when Posey was hit with the 0-1 pitch. Posey hit the dirt immeditely but quickly sat up, looking dazed. Head athletic trainer Dave Groeschner and manager Bruce Bochy wasted no time running to see Posey and removing him from the game. When Brandon Crawford grounded out to end the inning, fans booed Walker off the field. In a perfect metaphor for the Giants’ opening week, AT&T caught fire Monday morning. More specifically, according to Woodward and Bernstein-esque reporter Janie McCauley of the Associated Press, the Cha Cha Bowl stand in center field had a small grease fire. McCauley also reports the Cha Cha Bowls WILL be available, so you can stop hyperventilating at the thought of having to pay for a lobster-roll sandwich.
