Jordaan lauds appointment of new Bok coach
Safa president Danny Jordaan added his voice in welcoming the appointment of Allister Coetzee as the new Springbok coach.
|||Johannesburg - SA Football Association (Safa) president, Danny Jordaan added his voice in welcoming the appointment of Allister Coetzee as the new Springbok coach.
Speaking after the Motsepe Foundation - in conjunction with the Department of Basic Education – had pumped millions of rands into a Safa schools sports project, Jordaan said the appointment of Coetzee was a progressive move in South African sport.
“I would like to congratulate the new Springboks coach Allister Coetzee and wish him all the best,” said Jordaan.
“He is one sportsperson I knew from his youth days and [I] saw him progress within his playing days. He is one of the best scrumhalves ever produced in this country.”
Coetzee was also among Jake White’s coaching staff when the Boks won the 2007 Rugby World Cup in France.
“He showed his mettle while coaching the Stormers. He takes over the reins of the Boks as a highly-qualified individual and I am convinced he will take the national team to the next level,” added Dr. Jordaan.
He said Coetzee’s historical commitment to non-racialism in sport was well documented, adding it is something that ran through his entire career.
“I want to wish him success in his new job.”
