Sometimes you have to protect your customers
As a security manager, I naturally feel a great responsibility to protect my company’s assets and employees, but I also have a responsibility to protect our customers. This came home to me recently with renewed force when I read a news article about a few customers of an online service company whose credentials were compromised after they were victims of a phishing attack. The attackers were then able to create some financial havoc by making unauthorized payments and stealing personal identifying information.
