[Ticker] New elections likely in Catalonia, leftists pull support for government
The leftist Catalan party CUP, which opposes Nato and EU membership, decided Sunday against backing a new regional government led by outgoing president Artur Mas. Two of CUPs 10 MPs are needed for Mas to form a new government before a 9 January deadline, or they face new elections.
