Women’s Super League to be broadcast overseas for the first time

The Barclays FA Womens Super League will be broadcast overseas for the first time during the 2019-20 season.A new three-year media rights deal has been struck with Sky Mexico and Scandinavian broadcaster NENT which will see the competition shown live to viewers in Mexico, Central America, the Dominican Republic, Norway, Sweden, Finland and Denmark.Monday also marked the launch of The FA Player a new global streaming service which will provide free access to over 150 games along with selected matchhighlights from the Womens FA Cup, Lionesses games and the FA Womens Continental League Cup, starting from September 7.The six-figure revenue from thedeals is set to be reinvested into further broadcasting of womens football, including the development of The FA Player.The FA Womens Super League trophy (John Walton/PA)The FAs senior broadcast manager Tom Gracey said: Were delighted that the strength of The Barclays FA Womens Super League is being recognised globally.These two deals are a sign of the global strength and growing commercial prospects of the league.It is particularly pleasing that revenue will be targeted at the development of The FA Player.Through this reinvestment our aim is to help improve the experience for viewers around the world and strengthen the brands of our competitions, clubs and players in order to drive forward the commercialisation of womens football and create a new fan base globally.(function(i,s,o,g,r,a,m){i['GoogleAnalyticsObject']=r;i[r]=i[r]||function(){
