Haiti situation 'becoming a humanitarian emergency'
Political chaos and street violence in Haiti are taking place against a backdrop of increasingly desperate hunger, with the situation quickly becoming a "humanitarian emergency", Jean-Marie Bauer, the World Food Programme representative in Haiti, tells France 24. The hunger crisis requires a long-term commitment from the international community from more donations if crisis is to be averted, he says.
