‘They drowned right in front of me’: Haitians flee to NY with tales of violence
Thousands of people have fled Haiti’s capital in recent weeks as gangs continue to run riot, with many coming to New York and the town of Spring Valley, home to around six thousand Haitians with more arriving every day. They with them the trauma from the violence back home and from what they experienced on the grueling journey to the US. Many also worry for their family still in Haiti.
