Lake Charles woman dies in single-vehicle crash
Louisiana State Police reported a Lake Charles woman was killed in a single-vehicle crash.
LAKE CHARLES, La. (KLFY) -- Louisiana State Police reported a Lake Charles woman was killed in a single-vehicle crash.
LSP said they responded to a single-vehicle crash at the intersection of La. Highway 3020 and Mitchell Drive in Calcasieu Parish around 9:30 p.m. on Saturday. The crash claimed the life of 47-year-old Tony Rebecca Hoyt of Lake Charles.
An initial investigation revealed Hoyt was traveling west on La. 3020 in a Jeep SUV, when she lost control of the vehicle and traveled off the right edge of the roadway. After leaving the roadway, the vehicle struck a mailbox and then a culvert.
Hoyt was unrestrained and received serious injuries in the crash. She was taken to a local hospital where she later died, according to authorities.
A toxicology sample was obtained and will be submitted for analysis. This crash remains under investigation.
