EVANGELINE PARISH, La. (KLFY) -- News 10 was in Evangeline Parish today where one family was shocked this morning to find powerful winds had ripped off their garage roof, tossing it into power lines.
Terry Griffin says he and his wife woke up Wednesday morning to their garage roof on the power lines.
"We woke up this morning to a disaster. When we woke up, man, it was just bam, bam, bam, bam," Griffin explained.
Little did Griffin know, the loud noise he and his wife heard was the garage roof in the back of their home ripping off and flying around his yard.
"When I was cooking breakfast, I looked out the window and I have seen the whole roof just taken off. So when I came to the front, I said, 'baby, guess where the roof at the roof is in the front. She said oh, wow,'" Griffin said.
Griffin says the strong winds even pulled out his cellphone poles from the ground and they were without electricity.
"See like I am in the opening you know, nothing to stop it, you know, and then the wind came through and it just left with it," said Griffin.
Another area just before entering Ville Platte had major flooding causing some cars to get stuck trying to get through.
