MONROE, La. (KTVE/KARD) -- On March 26, 2024, the Monroe Police Department was called to a domestic disturbance at a residence on Auburn Avenue. Authorities learned that the female subject and Andrew L. Zamora lived together at the home.
According to court documents, the female subject received text messages from Zamora after she posted her bond. Zamora allegedly texted her and stated, "I just killed your cat. You want proof, pull up b****."
The female subject contacted Monroe Police and received assistance. Upon arriving at the home on Auburn Avenue, the female subject was able to retrieve a cat and a dog; however, she could not locate two other dogs.
According to authorities, the female subject was able to view video surveillance footage of the three dogs and noticed that the pets were never seen on video after 6:30 PM on March 26, 2024. Zamora was seen on video allegedly taking one of the dogs through the kitchen and into a bathroom.
Once Zamora and the dog entered the bathroom, the dog can be heard "yelping" as if it is in pain. On April 1, 2024, officials visited the home and Zamora could not be located.
Authorities searched the residence and entered the bathroom where one of the dogs was last seen alive. Officials detected an overwhelming odor of cleaning products in the room.
According to court documents, authorities observed spots of blood on the carpet, drawers, countertops, toilet, and the tile that surrounds the bathtub. Authorities tested the blood and determined that the blood did not belong to a human.
Authorities learned that Zamora allegedly purchased a 5-gallon bucket and set it outside under the carport after 7 PM on March 26, 2024. The bucket had a white trash bag inside of it.
Zamora allegedly placed the bucket into a Jeep SUV and left the area, according to court documents. He returned to the residence approximately 20 minutes later. According to authorities, they believed that Zamora placed two deceased dogs inside the bucket and left the home to dispose of the bucket and the pets.
According to authorities, Zamora was allegedly seen on Facebook mocking the female subject about her dogs in a video. He also mentioned that the two dogs ran away in the video.
On April 9, 2024, Zamora was arrested and charged with two counts of Animal Cruelty, Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, and Violation of a Protection Order. His bond was set at $40,000.
