PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) -- April showers return with Portland's latest cold front on Saturday. Sunshine will fade to cooler temperatures and wetter weather by the afternoon hours.
Morning sunshine on Saturday will help push Portland's afternoon temperatures into the upper 60s. This will be the warm before the storm as rain and wind kick up during the afternoon. Some of the first few raindrops won't start falling until after 2 p.m. along the Willamette Valley. Rain showers will start even earlier along the coast.
This latest round of wet weather will fill local gauges to a tenth to a quarter of an inch by the end of the weekend. The most widespread rain showers come as the front swings through western Oregon and Washington on Saturday afternoon.
Scattered rain showers will continue on Sunday with a couple of additional hundredths of an inch of rain to accumulate.
Saturday's cold front will leave behind a wake of cooler weather. Afternoon highs will only make into the low 60s on Sunday. The next round of mild, spring-like temperatures builds as early as Monday. Mild temperatures will last through the middle of next week before more rain returns to the forecast.
