The Sports Bra, women's sports bar, announces plans to franchise, expand
The Sports Bra, a women's sports bar in Portland, Oregon, is expanding with help from Alexis Ohanian, co-founder of Reddit and husband of Serena Williams, and will be supporting girls and women's sports through Ohanian's nonprofit, the 776 Foundation.
PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) -- Great news for women's sports fans: The Sports Bra plans to expand, the bar announced on Instagram Monday.
According to the bar, they will be taking the first step toward franchising with help from Alexis Ohanian, co-founder of Reddit and husband of Serena Williams.
As part of the investment, all returns will be going to supporting girls and women's sports through Ohanian's nonprofit the 776 Foundation, the bar announced.
The Sports Bra opened its doors in 2022 as the first women's sports bar. Two years later, that dream will be expanding to more cities.
Before opening, founder Jenny Nguyen told KOIN 6, “Even if there’s only one girl that ever comes in here and sees it in on TV and that inspires her to dream big about playing sports as an adult, that to me is everything."
There are no confirmed cities for expansion yet, but The Sports Bra said to stay tuned to their social media for more updates.
