Child shot in the head; APD searching for leads in south Austin roadway shooting
The Austin Police Department said it was searching for two suspects in connection with a shooting in south Austin. APD said the shooting resulted in serious injuries.
AUSTIN (KXAN) — The Austin Police Department said it was searching for two suspects in connection with a shooting in south Austin. APD said the shooting resulted in serious injuries.
According to police, the shooting occurred Monday at approximately 5:40 p.m. in the 1300 Block of West Ben White Boulevard.
At the scene, officers found a vehicle with two victims with gunshot wounds. APD said the victims were taken to the hospital and were in stable condition as of Wednesday.
“Preliminary investigation revealed that the victim’s vehicle was cut off by a dark grey Volkswagen sedan occupied by two Black males. One of the suspects, who was a passenger of the Volkswagen, fired several gunshots into the victim’s vehicle. The gunshots hit both victims; one adult occupant in the chest, and a juvenile child in the head,” APD said.
The suspect driver was described as a Black man with a thin build in his early 20s. The suspect passenger was described as a Black man in his early 20s with a thin build and dreadlocks-style hair.
Police said the suspect vehicle was described as an older model, dark grey Volkswagen sedan, similar to a Jetta.
APD said that anyone with information could submit a tip anonymously through the Capital Area Crime Stoppers Program by visiting austincrimestoppers.org or calling 512-472-8477.
“A reward of up to $1,000 may be available for any information that leads to an arrest,” APD said.
