BLANCO COUNTY, Texas (KXAN) — A former Blanco County Sheriff’s Office detention officer was charged with sexual assault after he was accused of touching an inmate inappropriately, according to an arrest warrant affidavit.
In a statement sent to KXAN, the Blanco County Sheriff’s Office said the Texas Rangers conducted an investigation of the detention officer for reported misconduct. The investigation led to the arrest of former detention officer James Gray.
In an interview with authorities, Gray denied all of the allegations, stating "he did not do anything wrong," the affidavit said. KXAN is working to find an attorney for Gray. This story will be updated when more information becomes available.
The victim told investigators they were assaulted by Gray "at least five times" during an inmate work program, the affidavit said.
The affidavit said the victim told investigators specifically about an assault while working at the nurse's station at the Blanco County Sheriff's Office jail. The victim said Gray told the victim "not to tell anyone about what was happening, because he didn't want to catch any felony charges," court documents said.
