5 arrested, charged in Hays County robberies
Four people were arrested in Hays County on charges connected to a string of robberies, and additional charges were added for a fifth person, according to county officials.
HAYS COUNTY, Texas (KXAN) — Four people were arrested in Hays County on charges connected to a string of robberies, and additional charges were added for a fifth person, according to county officials.
Officials said the robberies occurred at various convenience stores in the area, and the individuals were arrested between Dec. 26 and Feb. 14. The Kyle Police Department, Buda Police Department and the Hays County Sheriff’s Office secured the arrests.
According to a release, the suspects were identified as 18-year-old Rudy Romero, 22-year-old Brandon Anthony Vasquez, 23-year-old Martin Garcia Jr., 26-year-old Josh Julian Garza and a 17-year-old.
The 17-year-old was charged with aggravated robbery, unauthorized use of a vehicle, and four counts of theft of property.
Additional charges were added against Romero, who officials said was connected to three robberies in Kyle and an additional incident in Buda.
Vasquez and Garcia face robbery and engaging in organized criminal activity charges, according to officials.
Garza was charged with aggravated robbery, unlawful carrying of a weapon and two counts of interference with an emergency request for assistance.
