AUSTIN (KXAN) — Byron Murphy is nearly 300 pounds, but at the NFL Combine on Thursday in Indianapolis, he certainly didn't move like a guy that size.
Murphy, one of the highest-graded defensive tackles at the combine along with teammate T'Vondre Sweat, clocked the third-fastest 40-yard dash time at his position at 4.87 seconds. Only Florida State's Braden Fiske and Louisiana State's Mehki Wingo were faster at 4.78 and 4.85, respectively. Murphy's 10-yard split was 1.69 seconds, the fourth-fastest.
The impressive marks didn't stop there for Murphy, however. His 33-inch vertical leap was the second-highest, a half-inch behind Fiske. His broad jump mark of 9 feet, 3 inches checked in at No. 6 on the performance list.
According to NFL Next Gen Stats, Murphy performed the second-best of any defensive tackle Thursday. His athleticism score of 86, built by the results of his testing at the combine, was second to Fiske. When his 79 score in production is factored in from this past season, he ends up as the highest-graded DT prospect with a score of 84.

The big guys will showcase their brute strength in the bench press competition on Friday to round out their testing, and then they'll do more interviews with broadcast crews before they leave. Both defensive linemen and linebackers met with teams Monday-Wednesday for interviews.
