City commission wants to hear your opinion about charter changes
The city’s Charter Review Commission will hold an in-person/online town hall meeting Thursday afternoon at 5:30 in the Boards and Commissions Room at City Hall on 301 W Second St.
AUSTIN (KXAN) – A commission looking to potentially change the way the city of Austin governs itself will hear from the community on Thursday.
The city’s Charter Review Commission will hold an in-person/online town hall meeting Thursday afternoon at 5:30 in the Boards and Commissions Room at City Hall on 301 W Second St.
The city said it is one of the last opportunities for the community to give feedback before the commission presents their proposed amendments to the City Council by the end of March.
You don’t have to register if you plan to attend in-person, the city said, but you must register if you want to participate online.
The registration will open on Monday at 10 a.m. and close on Wednesday at 4 p.m.
In March 2023, Austin City Council voted to create the Charter Review Commission. The commission, made up of community members appointed by City Council, is looking at City Charter and recommends changes, including possible changes to petition requirements.
No changes can be made to City Charter without being put before voters.
