AUSTIN (KXAN) — A 1-point road loss to Oklahoma was enough for voters to ding the Texas Longhorns three spots in the Associated Press women's basketball rankings released Monday.

The Longhorns will begin the conference tournament in the quarterfinals at 5:30 p.m. Saturday against either BYU or Kansas. The Jayhawks are seeded No. 7 and BYU is No. 10, and they'll face each other Friday with the winner advancing to play Texas.
South Carolina, still undefeated at 29-0, remained the top team in the poll, followed by Stanford, Iowa, Ohio State and Southern California. Coming in behind the Longhorns to round out the top 10 are UCLA, Louisiana State, Connecticut and North Carolina State.
Other Big 12 teams in the poll are Kansas State at No, 16 and Baylor at No. 17. Fairfield, a 26-1 squad from the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference, moved into the poll for the first time in school history at No. 25. The Stags have won 24 consecutive games and head coach Carly Thibault-DuDonis told the AP, "It's a huge moment."
"One of the major reasons I came here is that it was a program on the brink of being on the national stage," she said. "We’ll for sure celebrate it."
