Austin Parks Foundation’s ‘In the Park’ series returns for 2024
Austin Parks Foundation (APF) released the 2024 schedule for its In the Park series. Each event offers a free Austin experience for people of all ages to participate, according to a press release.
AUSTIN (KXAN) — Movies and playdates around Austin are back from now to the end of the year.
Austin Parks Foundation (APF) released the 2024 schedule for its In the Park series. Each event offers a free Austin experience for people of all ages to participate, according to a press release.
The series kicks off with Playdates in the Park on March 6 and continues with the first Movies in the Park of the year on March 14.
Playdates in the Park events include activities such as live story-time readings, arts and crafts, creative movement and music.
“An important piece of our programming is to get people out in their neighborhood parks having fun, whether that is through movie screenings, story times or dance parties,” CEO of Austin Parks Foundation Colin Wallis said.
The schedule includes, according to the APF press release:
- Springwood Park | Wednesday, March 6
- Story-time led by BookSpring
- Colony Park District Park | Saturday, March 23
- Great Hills Neighborhood Park | Wednesday, April 10
- Dame Cafe will be providing coffee for parents
- Brentwood Neighborhood Park | Saturday, April 20
- Story-time led by BookSpring
- Boggy Creek Greenbelt Conley Pavilion | Wednesday, May 8
APF has brought free movies to Austin's neighborhood parks for over a decade, the release said.
APF partnered with Rocket Cinema for movie showings in various neighborhoods across the city. Each film showing will include vendors and other activities.
The schedule includes, according to the APF press release:
- Elemental at Circle C Ranch Metro Park | Thursday, March 14
- Jaws at Deep Eddy Municipal Pool | Thursday, June 13
- TBD at Mueller Lake Park | Friday, Sept. 13
- The Grinch at Balcones District Park | Thursday, Dec. 5
