Man deemed incompetent in June 2023 West Campus stabbing
A man was deemed incompetent related to a June stabbing that occurred in West Campus near the University of Texas at Austin.
AUSTIN (KXAN) — A man was deemed incompetent to stand trial related to a June stabbing that occurred in West Campus near the University of Texas at Austin.
According to Travis County court documents, 45-year-old Brian Baca was ordered to be committed to a mental health facility or residential care facility in September for observation and treatment for no more than 120 days.
Baca was previously arrested June 12 and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon after a person was taken to the hospital with critical, life-threatening injuries. UTPD said at the time he and the victim weren't affiliated with UT.
