Police identify person killed in U.S. Highway 290 crash
Austin police have identified the driver who was killed in a single-vehicle crash on Highway 290 Friday, March 15. The vehicle's passenger had non-life-threatening injuries from the crash.
AUSTIN (KXAN) -- Austin police have identified the driver who was killed in a single-vehicle crash on U.S. Highway 290 Friday, March 15. The vehicle's passenger had non-life-threatening injuries from the crash.
The Austin Police Department identified the driver as Jacoby Dywayne Larue Mahome, 30.
On Friday, March 15, around 6:15 a.m., APD officers responded to a single vehicle crash in the 8700 block of East U.S. 290.
Mahome was pronounced deceased on the scene. The passenger was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
This incident is being investigated as Austin's 16th fatal crash of 2024, resulting in 16 fatalities for the year.
