IDEA staff 'evaluating' 3 students after truck crashes into bus
A spokesperson for IDEA Public Schools shared a statement explaining the bus had come from the IDEA Montopolis campus and was carrying students to a College Signing Day event.
AUSTIN (KXAN) — Three students are under evaluation by IDEA Public School staff members after a truck crashed into a school bus in south Austin Tuesday morning.
According to a KXAN viewer, the wreck happened in the 800 block of East Riverside Drive, which is near Alameda Drive in the Travis Heights neighborhood. A photo shared with KXAN shows a maroon-colored truck with front-end damage after it hit the back of the bus.
A spokesperson for IDEA Public Schools shared a statement explaining the bus had come from the IDEA Montopolis campus and was carrying students to a College Signing Day event.
"All students are safe and were transported by another bus to the even safely," the school's statement read. "Out of an abundance of caution, campus personnel are evaluating three students."
The cause of the crash is under investigation, according to the school.
