CORTE MADERA
Public forum set on
sewer rate increases
The Sanitary District No. 2 board is planning a public hearing next week on proposed rate increases for the next five years.
Under the proposal, the annual sewer service charge would rise from $498 this fiscal year to $697 for the fiscal year starting July 1. Annual rate hikes over the following four years would bring the charge to $1,233.02. Customers also must pay a $2 billing and collection charge from the county.
The district says rates have not increased since 2010, and that it needs the additional revenue for inflation, capital projects and maintenance.
The hearing is scheduled for 6:45 p.m. Tuesday at Corte Madera Town Hall at 300 Tamalpais Drive. More information on the proposed rate hikes is online at shorturl.at/AIMQ6.
