British woman’s finger bitten so hard in Magaluf nightclub her bone broke

'I could see my nail dangling and the teeth marks - it was disgusting.'

A British holidaymaker was left bloodied and nursing a broken finger after another reveller bit her as she tried to break up a fight.

Lois Burr, 26, went to help a friend who had fallen asleep in the smoking area of Magaluf’s Stereo nightclub when the woman grabbed hold of her hair.

When she raised a hand up to ward her off, the ‘absolute animal’ sunk her teeth into the instrument technician’s right index finger.

The assault happened on their last night and it was only when she got back home to Hull and went to A&E that she found out the attacker’s bite had broken the bone.

Lois said on Facebook: ‘I wish I had the sense to report you to the police and have you charged with assault for the damage and trauma you have caused me and now will continue to cause me for the next year.’

Lois, originally from Dundee, posted pictures of her grisly injuries before revealing the nail had been removed by doctors who washed out an infection underneath.

She will still need further injections for the next year.

Recalling the attack, she said: ‘My friend had a habit of falling asleep all holiday – and she’d fallen asleep in the smoking area of the club.

‘All of sudden I noticed a group of girls surrounding her – they had a lot of pent up anger, and were being verbally abusive.

‘I tried not to rise to it, and turned to get to my friend, when one of them grabbed my hair.

‘As I went to push her off, I felt her teeth sink to the bone.

‘I could see my nail dangling and the teeth marks – it was disgusting.

‘I’d never think to attack someone like that.’

Lois had her hand patched up by a local before rushing to grab her flight home the following morning.

When she reached the plane, flight attendants advised her to go to hospital as soon as they landed.

She said: ‘I headed straight to Royal Alexandra Hospital in Glasgow, where they told me the bone had been split right down the middle from the top.

‘They were concerned about infection from a human bite, and I ended up on antibiotics for a week as well as the hepatitis B vaccine.

‘Then I had to head back to Hull, where I had to visit A&E again as they got specialists to look at my hand and I saw a plastic surgeon.

‘I even had to go to theatre, where they tried to repair the nail bed; behind the nail, there was already infection and pus that was building up.

‘The entire thing was very surreal and very gross.

‘I’ve now got to have three more doctors’ visits, as well the four A&E trips I’ve had already and I’m looking at follow-ups lasting over a year.

‘I just wish I’d reported it at the time – she gets to go home and never think of it again, whereas I’m stuck with the fallout for the next year.’
