Gunman and his five victims identified in Molson Coors mass shooting

Anthony Ferrill, 51, worked as an electrician at the plant in Milwaukee, Wisconsin for 17 years before he snapped and began shooting after a long-running dispute with a coworker boiled over. 

The gunman who opened fire at the Molson Coors plant Wednesday killing five coworkers has been identified along with his victims.

His victims were identified as Jesus Valle Jr, 33; Gennady Levshetz, 61; Trevor Wetselaar, 33; Dana Walk, 57; and Dale Hudson, 60. Ferrill was found dead of a self-inflicted gunshot wound after the shooting, according to Police Chief Alfonso Morales.

A coworker who did not want to be named told USA Today that Ferrill believed he was being discriminated against because he was African-American. He was reportedly seen arguing with one of his victims on multiple occasions.

The employee said Ferrill often watched movies on his phone at work, which his coworker took issue with. He was Ferrill and the employee, who was also an electrician, began accusing each other of going into each other’s offices, stealing tools and tampering with their computer equipment.

Then, about a year ago, Ferrill started saying brewery workers had been coming to his home, bugging his computer and moving his furniture around.

‘I was (like), are you serious, Anthony? What? We all kind of joked about it, saying we should maybe get him an aluminum hat. Things just started getting weird. But he was dead serious about it,’ the employee said.

Years ago, Ferrill slipped and fell off a ladder at work and injured his shoulder, forcing him to take time off from work, according to The Journal Times. While at home, he told his neighbor, Erna Roenspies, that ‘spies’ from the brewery were watching him in his neighborhood to make sure he was not faking the injury, which he said ‘irritated him.’

However, Roenspies, 82, said she thought Ferrill was a ‘gentleman’ who she considered to be like ‘a son.’

‘He wasn’t violent. He wasn’t a drunk. He was a gentleman. I just can’t believe it,’ she said.

First responders at the brewery called the chaotic scene a ‘warzone,’ according to fire dispatch audio obtained by CNN.

In a press conference after the shooting, Lieutenant Governor Mandela Barnes said: ‘We are here on the scene of another American tragedy. Another senseless American tragedy. One that shouldn’t have to happen and unfortunately it’s in our backyard.’

‘An I hate to say that it is in our backyard once again,’ he said of the 11th mass shooting in Wisconsin since 2004.

The brewery will remain closed until further notice and the company’s corporate offices will be closed for the rest of the week.
