A further nine people have died in England after contracting coronavirus, bringing the country’s death toll in hospitals to 29,281.
The latest figures, released on Sunday by NHS England, only cover fatalities in hospitals, with Wales recording one death and Scotland reported no new fatalities for the tenth day running. Northern Ireland did not release figures yesterday.
Meanwhile, overweight people are being asked to lose five pounds to save the NHS £100 million and help lower the risk of dying from coronavirus as part of the government’s obesity crackdown.
New measures expected to be announced by Boris Johnson today include a ban on sweet displays at store checkouts and ‘buy one, get one free’ promotions on crisps and chocolate.
