Will hairdressers close again?
It is not known how the new lockdown system could affect hairdressers and barbers, and so it is currently unclear whether or not they will have to close in areas deemed high risk.
Ministers are said to be torn on what to do about hairdressers, gyms and leisure centres.
Based on current guidelines, is unlikely that all hairdressers and barbers will have to close their doors nationwide unless the UK is put under a second national lockdown.
What are the current rules for hairdressers and barbers in lockdown areas?
Currently, even in areas where local lockdown has been enforced, hairdressers and barbers are allowed to remain open.
However, some kind of Test and Trace system needs to be in place, and customers and staff must wear face coverings at all times. This is the same even for regions not under lockdown.
Additionally, mobile hairdressers are allowed to continue working, even in Scotland where in-home visits from other households are banned nationwide.
Those who live in regions of Wales currently under lockdown, such as Rhondda Cynon Taf, are still allowed to visit hairdressers, so long as they are not outside the lockdown area.
