Ivanka Trump ‘once blamed her loud fart on a friend’

The first daughter's former school friend says Ivanka picked up her dad's habit of throwing others under the bus at an early age

Outgoing White House adviser Ivanka Trump once did a loud fart – then successfully blamed it on a friend, her old school pal has claimed. The first daughter allegedly picked up her dad’s habit of ‘throwing others under the bus to save herself,’ at an early age, journalist Lysandra Ohrstrom said.

Ohrstrom, who attended Chapin School with Ivanka in Manhattan during the 1990s, said the fart incident was the first time she noticed the White House adviser’s ruthlessness. She also accused Ivanka of being the ringleader behind an incident which saw a group of girls flash their breasts at a hot dog man.

Ohrstrom says Ivanka managed to inveigle her way out of trouble – only for everyone else who exposed themselves to be suspended. Writing in Vanity Fair, Ohrstrom told of how she cemented her friendship with Ivanka during a school trip to Paris, and spent years enjoying the president’s daughters ‘fun and loyal’ persona.

But she said Ivanka has always shared her father Donald’s obsession with status and wealth, and would remark ‘Since when can a teacher afford a BMW?’ or ‘Why is a police officer living in a house like that?’ while watching movies.

Ohrstrom says Ivanka also chastised her for recommending she read Empire Falls, an award-winning novel about a downtrodden diner manager by saying: ‘Ly, would would you tell me to read a book about fucking poor people?’

Unlike her father, Ivanka was welcomed into US east coast ‘old money’ circles by people who considered Donald Trump vulgar and crass, according to Ohrstrom.

But Ivanka’s former pal – who now works as a respected foreign correspondent – says the first daughter has squandered that goodwill by becoming the public face of her dad’s divisive administration.

Ohrstrom also shared her own brushes with President Trump, recalling his incredulity when she told him that Ivanka wasn’t the prettiest girl in their class – but was within the top five.

She said: ‘”Who’s prettier than Ivanka?” I recall him asking once with genuine confusion, before correctly naming the two girls I’d had in mind. He described one as a young Cindy Crawford, while the other he said had a great figure.’

And she told of how President Trump would frequently remark on her weight – claiming that he had told her Don Jr was ‘doing her a favor’ by stealing a grilled cheese sandwich off her plate.

Ohrstrom says she and Ivanka grew apart after Ivanka’s 2009 wedding to Jared Kushner, and that she had vowed to stay silent, until this year’s election campaign.

The first daughter’s former friend says she thinks Ivanka now sees herself as a quasi-royal, and has questioned how she will rebuild her social standing after four years working for her dad in the White House.
