Nancy Pelosi attempts to block ‘unstable President’ Trump from ordering nuclear strike
'We must do everything we can to protect the American people'.
House speaker Nancy Pelosi is attempting to block ‘unstable President’ Trump from being able to order a nuclear strike in his final days in office.
Pelosi released a statement this morning saying she is exploring ‘available precautions’ for blocking Donald Trump from having access to nuclear codes.
She said she has already spoken with the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Mark Milley to discuss preventing an ‘unstable’ Donald Trump from initiating ‘military hostiles’.
Her scathing statement labeled Donald Trump as ‘unhinged’ and ‘dangerous’. It also discussed ‘removing the President from Office’ as the Democrats continue to push for Trump’s impeachment.
Pelosi said: ‘The situation of his unhinged President could not be more dangerous, and we must do everything that we can to protect the American people from his unbalanced assault on our country and our democracy.
‘This morning I spoke to the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Mark Milley to discuss available precautions for preventing an unstable President from initiating military hostiles or accessing the launch codes and ordering a nuclear strike.’
Her letter to members also said that counseling will be on offer following Wednesday’s ‘traumatic’ events and advised that a physician will be made available for staff.
Pelosi added that there is ‘growing momentum’ for the invocation of the 25th amendment and urged vice president Mike Pence and the cabinet to ‘honor their oath to the constitution’.
As speaker of the house, Pelosi is leading a Democrat movement that would see the President removed from office for ‘his incitement of insurrection and the danger he still poses’.
