Woman arrested after stamping on young mother’s head in pizza shop beating
Brittany Breann Kennedy, 25, was arrested 10 days after allegedly beating Emily Broadwater, 22, and dragging her by the hair
The woman captured on video stamping on a young mother’s head and dragging her by the hair at a Little Caesars pizza shop has been arrested. Brittany Breann Kennedy, 25, was taken into custody on Tuesday, 10 days after the beating.
Kennedy was found on the 300 block of Calvary Drive in Augusta, Georgia, by Richmond County Sheriff Office investigators and the U.S. Marshal’s Office and booked into the county jail, WRDW reported on Wednesday. Kennedy was charged with aggravated assault, kidnapping and criminal damage to property in the second degree, in connection with the May 17 beating of 22-year-old Emily Broadwater.
A clip from the Little Caesars at 3221 Wrightsboro Road showed a woman alleged to be Kennedy pulling Broadwater by her hair, punching her multiple times in the face and stamping her on the head.
Broadwater, with her nose and mouth bleeding, got up on her feet appearing confused and in a daze after Kennedy let up.
Kennedy confronted Broadwater inside the pizza shop and pulled the chair from under her, police said. In footage that went viral, Broadwater’s daughter could be seen rushing to help her mother who was being pummeled. A Little Caesars worker took Broadwater’s daughter as a bystander said, ‘Move the baby, move the baby’.
Broadwater suffered cuts to her face, head and neck but reportedly declined to be taken to a hospital.
A motive is still under investigation, Richmond County Sheriff’s Office Sergeant William McCarty said.
McCarty last week told the New York Post that the two women had a dispute over the Broadwater’s contact with the father of Kennedy’s children.
‘That seems to be the foundation of the disputes between Broadwater and Kennedy,’ he said.
McCarthy added that the women had fought ‘for some time’ and that no charges had been filed prior.
In a sheriff’s office incident report, a deputy wrote that Broadwater said she had ‘been having issued with the suspect for a while now’.
