When a retired postman noticed things were randomly moving around his shed, he decided it was time to launch an investigation.
‘At first I noticed that some food that I was putting out for the birds was ending up in some old shoes I was storing in the shed,’ said 75-year-old Rodney Holbrook.
He spotted other things including clothes pegs, corks, nuts and bolts had mysteriously been shifting around his shed in Builth Wells, Powys, Wales.
So he set up a night vision camera on his workbench – and what he discovered was incredible.
In a Ratatouille-style scene, a mouse was seen tidying up his shed and moving bits and bobs back into the box where they came from.
Rodney said: ‘Ninety nine times out of 100 the mouse will tidy up throughout the night.
‘It is incredible really that they put them all back in the box, I think it’s possible that they enjoy it.’

He has since nicknamed the rodent Welsh Tidy Mouse, and believes the animal is attempting to hide away nuts.
But Rodney said the arrangement has worked well for him for around two months now.
‘I don’t bother to tidy up now, I leave things out of the box and they put it back in its place by the morning,’ said the avid wildlife photographer.
He added he has been experimenting to see what the mouse is able to carry – and it has even managed cable ties.
Rodney joked: ‘I think he would tidy my wife away if I left her in there.’
He said this isn’t even the first time he has come across a tidy mouse – another was doing a very similar thing in Bristol five years ago.
Its behaviour was uncovered when a friend reached out to Rodney in 2019 and asked for help setting up a night camera.
Rodney said: ‘That one video went viral and reached people around the world.
‘So I can’t believe here in Builth Wells we have had the same thing happen years later.’
