Met Office reveals when next snow will hit after ‘Arctic blast’ sweeps UK
The UK may be hit by more snow this weekend as an ‘arctic blast’ is set to bring in sub-zero temperatures.
The Met Office has forecast a ‘resurgence in really cold weather through the weekend’.
This week has already seen freezing temperatures, with the mercury falling to -5°C in Hampshire and -4°C in Suffolk this morning.
But more cold weather is expected on Sunday, with forecasters saying a northerly airflow will increase the chances of ‘wintry hazards’.
Met Office head of situational awareness Will Lang said: ‘There will be a resurgence in the really cold weather through the weekend and that spreads across the whole of the UK during the early part of next week.
‘Initially, this means there will be more in the way of showers around the coasts, turning increasingly to snow for many areas, especially further north.’
The south of England will also see some ‘wintry showers’ on Monday as areas of the south will remain very cold throughout the week.

Deputy chief forecaster Tony Wardle said: ‘There is the potential for some disruptive snow through the middle to latter part of next week as warmer Atlantic air attempts to push in from the southwest.
‘As this occurs, some substantial snow could fall in some places, but the details of that are uncertain at the moment.’
The Met Office and public health officials have issued an amber cold weather warning in place until Friday, warning there might be an ‘observed increase in mortality across the population’.
An amber cold-weather alert for the north-west of England, the West Midlands, East Midlands and south-west of England is in place from now until 12pm Friday.
A yellow cold health alert remains for the north-east of England, Yorkshire and The Humber, East of England, south-east of England and London.
After sunset, -7°C nights are expected in England during the chill, with -12°C in Scotland forecasted this week.
Behind this 12-day whiteout is an 800-mile-wide ‘Scandi shiver’ that has already frozen Finland and Norway solid.
