Tributes paid to ‘angel’ school girl, 14, who died suddenly

She was rushed to hospital but medics were unable to save the teenager.

School friends of a teenage girl who died suddenly have paid tribute to ‘an angel’ who will ‘forever be 14’.

Paramedics were called to reports of a medical emergency at an address in Bucknall, Stoke-on-Trent on the evening of Friday, February 9.

Charley Pointon was rushed to Royal Stoke University hospital, where she was confirmed dead.

Staffordshire police said her death was not being treated as suspicious, reports Stoke-on-Trent Live.

Discovery Academy in Bentilee, where Charley was a Year 9 pupil, has been organising counselling sessions for pupils following the tragedy.

The school is also opening its doors to the community tomorrow to give students and families the opportunity to remember Charley and seek support.

Friends of the teenager took to social media to pay tribute, describing her as an ‘angel’ who will ‘forever be 14’.

Discovery Academy meanwhile, shared a picture of Charley, online and wrote: ‘It is with great sadness, that the family and Discovery Academy, have to inform you that year 9 pupil, Charley Pointon died suddenly on Friday.

‘We are working closely together to ensure that the family and the academy community can be supported over the coming days and months.’

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: ‘We were called to reports of a medical emergency at a private address on Willeton Street at 10.34pm on Friday, three ambulances and a paramedic officer attended the scene. On arrival we discovered one female patient.

‘Following treatment at the scene the patient was taken to hospital. Unfortunately, shortly after arrival at hospital it became apparent nothing could be done to save the patient and she was confirmed deceased.’
