Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s new revamped Sussex.com website name was bought from a British-born businessman, it’s been revealed.
The domain name was initially bought in 1995 by US-based Neil Agate, who recently sold it to the couple for an ‘undisclosed amount’.
The Sussexes new website domain was registered on February 4, just days before Harry and Meghan launched their new and improved site.
The tech entrepreneur, who lives in Maryland, USA, told The Sun on Sunday: ‘I got inquiries over the years. You wouldn’t believe how many Sussex insurance companies there are.
‘Most weren’t worth the effort. I got an email from a broker in December and replied with my asking price. They accepted it.
‘I think the price was fair. I didn’t know who was buying it. I’m very happy with the situation.’
In what was seen as a strategic move to reconnect with their audience, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex began using their official titles on the new website.
The California-based couple have now replaced their old Archewell website with Sussex.com that includes their biographies and lists their recent activities.
After endorsing Archewell – their business launched in 2020 – for the last two years they seem to have ditched the brand to reconnect with supporters of the Royal Family.
In the first post on their new and improved website, Meghan has announced she is partnering with Lemonada Media, a podcast network.
It comes as last year, the couple’s ‘Archewell Audio’ – which had podcasts from the couple including ‘Archetypes’ – parted ways with Spotify.
